This Peruvian, or Andean blue opal just glows like a pool of clear water. Set simply in a heavy gauge, lightly distressed sterling silver band and setting, the stone speaks for itself. Peruvian opals, which are a fairly rare opal, are found only in the Peruvian Andes. This particular opal is one of the better stones in my possession.
This stone is semitransparent, with good color, and has been stored dry at room temperature for at least 6 months. Do not expose to extreme temperatures. Keep polished with a polishing cloth. Do not use silver polish, and as usual never try to clean gemstone jewelry in an ultrasonic cleaner. Do not attempt to resize.
